Up for auction here is a very interesting circa late 1960s to late 1970s work by an artist who we think is from Japan. The subject matter of this work is Fisherman in the Pond. This work is being sold unframed and unmounted. The work is a serigraph on paper. The total paper size measures 19 1/2 inches high by 22 1/2 inches across. The piece is signed with the artist's chop mark in the lower right. We think the signature may be a serigraphed signature versus a hand stamped signature. Unfortunately, we don't know who the artist is. The colors are thickly applied and you can see some of the pink colors coming through on the back. The work has two 1/2 inch tears one in the top center that is in the margin and the second in the bottom center that goes about 1/4 of an inch into the serigraph. There is also a slight bend in the upper right corner and an abrasion and scuffing along the upper left margin from where the piece was previously mounted on the front of the print with tape hinges. On the back there is a small spot of tape on the back to prevent further tearing of the tear on the edge. Since we don't know the artist we don't know if the artist is a listed artist or not.
