Giant Sawtooth Creamer Presenting an early American Flint Glass Creamer/ Pitcher. I am not a glass expert but have been working steadily on trying to identify this set. I have referenced a book by Ruth Lee Webb called "Early American Pressed Glass". I have not seen this exact pattern but Lee states "more than one factory in the old Pittsburgh glass district was turning it (Sawtooth pattern) out". Lee also states that the earliest (1850's) glass is heavy and coarse though very brilliant. This piece, part of a group shown in the last picture, has a very large "tooth" and shines brilliantly in the sun. The measurement of the rim teeth when taken from the bottom of the "V" to the tip is .75"! The weight of this creamer is just over 1 lb. The height is 5" at the spout, the top opening is 3" and width from handle to spout is 5.5". Condition: In very good condition for over 150 years old! T is one or two little edge nicks on the glass forming the diamond pattern. I feel a very tiny nick on the rim and one stable crack .25" long that falls just below the spout- this one can be seen in the pictures. This entire collection came from an old rural Pa. estate near Bethlehem.
