It is easy to identify this antique lamp as a 1897 composite oil lamp by the brass work. The extended brass collar and the brass connectors above and below the stem section have the distinctive embossed pattern of straight ridges. This is characteristic of the composite lamps shown in the 1897 catalogue and book Oil Lamps page 218. The bulbous stem section is hand painted with a yellow floral motif over a blue background. The clear glass font has an all over pattern of zig zag and diamonds and the base is black painted cast iron. Queen Anne #2 Scovill burner and pearl beaded top chimney complete the antique oil lamp. Burner seems to work fine, wick raiser turns...wick is missing. Overall, this antique Zig Zag and Diamond oil lamp is in excellent condition, signs of use and some wear and will be a beautiful addition to your home or your collection.
