EAPG - US Glass Delaware Emerald & Gold Banana Bowl This is one of the better pieces of this company's Early American Pattern Glass output. This is a "Banana Bowl" done in non-flint, brilliant emerald green glass trimmed in gold. The pattern is properly called Delaware, but is sometimes seen as American Beauty or Four-Petal Flower. The dates of production are not clear. Replacements Limited shows this pattern discontinued in 1899, but I favor the research of Elen Schroy who places the production of this pattern between 1899 and 1909. This is striking color and design based on a four-petal blossom, thin, heavily-veined leaves, broom-shaped buds and a cherry-shaped fruit. Like most EAPG, it is a very heavy piece of glass. T are enough pieces of this pattern and color to make collecting a reasonable effort. This elongated bowl measures very roughly 11-3/4 by 7 inches and stands about 4-1/4 inches tall. This bowl is in excellent condition with no damage at all and less than normal usage wear for pieces of this period. The gold trim is basically complete, although a bit weak in a few spots. Overall, in my opinion, this is as fine an example of Delaware as can be found. This truly beautiful piece of Early American Pattern Glass is offered with a very reasonable opening bid.Click on the Country Road to see what else is in the Attic For read more
