BEAUTIFUL EAPG ETCHED AND CUT GLASS CASTOR SET ~ Late 1880's - 1910 I am letting go of a few of my treasures. This one I got several years ago at my favorite bed and breakfast on the Mendocino Coast in California. When I first saw it I had to have it and the owner sold it to me for much more than I am selling it now. During the mid 1800's to the early 1940's castor sets were found on every table. They simply disappeared when dining was clearly favored for the less formal. This set is a real treasure and I would like it to go to a good home w it will be appreciated for it's rarity, impeccable condition and beauty. I have yet to see one like this in my travels. The set comes to you complete with 2 salt and pepper shakers, a condiment jar and a vinegar/salad dressing cruet. As you can see from my pictures the glass has turned a lovely shade of lavender from the many years of exposure to sunlight. The cruets have a delicate etched leaf pattern with a cut glass pattern circling the upper part. The bottom stand of the carrier is a beautiful cut glass design as is the handle and the stopper for the vinegar cruet. The lids for all are in wonderful condition and I believe they are either pewter or perhaps sterling or silver plated. I have never wanted to polish these lids, I like them just the way they are.
