Being a long time collector of the Priscilla pattern, I find I must now begin to reduce the size of this collection and am tfor offering this fine example. Produced in the 1890's by Dalzell, Gilmore and Leighton Company of Findlay, Ohio, it is a difficult to find non-flint pattern. Sometimes called Alexis or Sun and Star it is often confused with the very popular and much more common Moon and Star pattern. It is an elegant pattern suitable for the finest table and the best of collections. Offered in this sale is one of my favorite pieces. I believe it to be a nut dish but perhaps it was meant to be used in an altogether different manner. In any case it is a fine and dainty piece. It measures just 4 1/2 inches high, has a bowl width of 6 inches and a bowl depth of 1 1/4 inches. Being shallow and with flared edges it is a true uncovered piece. As you can see in the pictures, the nut dish has the typical stem or standard of the larger Priscilla compotes. Aside from some light scratching inside the bowl portion which is so very typical for these early utilitarian pieces, it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, nips or hairlines. The glass is clear. the pattern crisp and shows good age on the bottom. In all my years collecting Priscilla I've never seen another piece quite like this. A wonderful and unusual addition to your collection. This little gem is being offered with a very low starting price and no reserve. Please feel free to email with any questions you may have. As noted, we have a considerable collection and will be offering many more fine and unusual pieces over the next few months so be sure to watch our future auctions. Thank you for looking and good luck in your bidding.
