Earl Moran 1948 pin-up calendar
Sold For:
Nifty Numbers" is the name of this 14-page, 8x14" 1948 Earl Moran pin-up calendar. It has a telephone theme: Miss December (picture #4), for example, is accompanied by this verse: "Displayng my ability/I'm just a gay deceiver/For I just took an awful spill/And fell on my receiver."Each of the 12 pages features a lucious forties-style pin-up (Earl Moran pastels) and a saucy verse. At the bottom of the page, like an afterthought, are the days of the month and the name, address and phone number of the outfit advertising on the calendar: Rupert Parachute Service at Pal-Waukee Airport in Wheeling, Illinois. The calendar has had one previous owner: a founder of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), mentioned on the calendar. All pin-up pages are in mint condition. The "Nifty Numbers" cover (# 2), showing a telephone with the letters of the artist's name in the holes of the rotary dial, has a few tiny pinpoint-size holes. Each pin-up has the artist's signature.
