This auction is for an unmarked original German K98k 10 inch Cleaning Rod, not a repro . Early smooth, quality manufacture. 10 inch, approx., 25cm cleaning rod that will fit 1940 and earlier Mauser 98k rifles. Not correct for G/K43 rifles. If you have a Russian capture or other import it is possible that the stock was changed. An easy way to tell if your rifle takes a 12.5" or 10" rod is to look under the rear band. If the nut for the rod is under the band it takes a 10" rod. The rod is in great condition with about 95% of the original blue finish. Not bent or rusted, no damaged threads. It is unnumbered so it will make a perfect replacement. You can tell it's WWII German by the manufacturing techniques and physical characteristics of the cleaning rod. The rod has the correct “V” cut angled cuts on the patch holder end to hold the patch in place and the correct full length threads with tapered point on the end. Smooth machining with rounded edges typical of early war manufacture. Beware of repro’s with the wrong threads that may damage your rifle.
