Thanks for visiting my auctions. This auction is for a Stunning 4 Tier Mahogany English Dumbwaiter circa 1820-30. ( For those who do not know what a Dumbwaiter is....It is generally 3 or 4 circular trays graduated in size from largest at bottom, rotating about a central shaft.) They were typically placed near the Hostess end of the table and carried extra plates, silverware, deserts and cheese.Later they were often used for liquor bottles and glasses. This is a Beautiful piece of furniture and a rather large piece when assembled. It is solid Mahogany with raised edges with a lighter color inset to make it look like a rope around the edge. This table features 4 graduated circular trays that turn independantly on beautiful balusters. The widest measures 25" then 23" 20" and finally 17" and is an astounding 55" tall.It features ring turned socles above Beautiful tripod legs with the original brass castors. It appears to have all original hardware. This piece is very nice but it does have its' faults ( minor for it's age!! ) But they are t none the less. They are as follows. Top shelf is slightly warped and has some scuffs in the finish as seen in pic 6 and 1 small tight crack that goes thru to the bottom and measures 2 1/2" in length on the top and 2"on the bottom with no gap in the crack. The second shelf has 1 minor crack on the edge that is on the top only and edge.It does not carry thru to the bottom. It measures 3" long and very tight. The third shelf which is the one pictured with the white circles has 2 cracks that have been repaired at some point in thier life.On the back of the shelf you can see w a piece of the shelf has been morticed out and another piece of mahogany has been put in to take out a warp and to eliminate the stress of the cracks.Pic 10.This shelf is also slightly warped. The piece of mahgany that was used appears to be period wood. The bottom and largest shelf is in good condition.Just under the bottom shelf is 2 small flat chips in the wood.(not noticeable when put together.)The socles are slightly loose on a couple but they tighten right up when you place a piece of felt around them before you screw them in.This piece has its Original finish as far as I can tell.It does need a good polishing! IT STILL DISPLAYS BEAUTIFULLY!!!! This piece will most likely have to be shipped in 2 seperate packages to insure room for enough packing material to keep this piece safe in the shipping process.I expect shipping to be around 50.00 from my experience but could be slightly higher or lower depending on your zipcode.I will not know exact shipping till I get it wrapped and boxed.I will not package it until I know that it is going to sell.If you pay via Pay-Pal you MUST have a verified confirmed address. This is for your safety as well as mine. Please feel free to e-mail with any questions and or requests for more pics BEFORE bidding......T are NO Refunds unless item is Grossly Misrepresented....Insurance is Required for this item.....Ins will be calculated, added and a new invoice sent with correct information on it once auction ends. DO NOT PAY UNTIL I HAVE SENT A CORRECTED INVOICE TO REFLECT THE INSURANCE CHARGE. I DO SHIP INTERNATIONALLY BUT........ T IS A 5.00 HANDLING CHARGE PER ITEM AND ALL INTERNATIONAL ITEMS MUST BE PAID FOR VIA PAY-PAL.....US FUNDS ONLY......
