Perfect for adding that last minute bit of lipstick, storing jewelry or simply charming in the guest bed or bath with plenty of space for travel size tioletries. Matter of fact, I have a shaving mirror similar to this one both in my guest bath and guest bedroom. I keep them stocked with tioletries, wash clothes, tissues, sundry lotions a relaxing eye pillow and sleepy time items. I can't tell you how many compliments I've received and how special my guest feel with this added touch! Matter of fact, had the two gentleman's mirrors I have in my home not been family heirlooms passed down for generations, I would have kept this one, but alas, I cannot part with my family's pieces, no matter how much more beautiful this one may be! It's apparent, no matter which gender ends up with this fine, high end antique furnishing, it will surely be remembered not only for it's beauty but also for its practical and useful nature! T's no denying this piece is exceedingly handsome - nothing beats flame mahogany when it comes to patination and this shaving mirror takes the cake. Overall a wonderful antique piece in a condition worthy of even the eldest and most prestigious of antique homes and decor. A light polishing with a bit of lemon oil and she comes to life with deep rich tones, literal flames, climbing up and winding around the entire structure. Structurally, the shaving mirror is in nice condition and sturdy. Due to it's age t are a few chips and t but nothing to write home about. As you can see from the photos above, one of the finials is missing but easily replaced and inexpensively through any wood supply store. The mirror has some surface wear, but considering it is original, it is in very nice shape. Should you want to, you could replace the mirror; however, as we prefer the original and tend to be purists when it comes to our antiques, we've left it alone - the wear to it gives it the character and just look it deserves. The drawer is ample and ready to store any number of items. It is sturdy, of dovetail construction and comes complete with lock and key! I've seen many a shaving mirror in my day, but none this early that are in such nice condiition, so appealing or exude so much charm and character. Due to its size, this gentleman's chest will fit in even the smallest spaces, w a larger vanity or chest would not. It would look exquisite on the top of a gentlemanâe(tm)s dresser or upon a nice old shelf in the master bathroom.
