A well painted early eighteenth century oil on canvas of a tronie.He may represent a saint but has no attributes and may just be a generalized depiction of age or a philosopher.His entire face is cast in shadow with strong lighting from behind that gives a dramatic effect.The painting measures 13.75" x 17.75" and is in good condition.It was lined and re-stretched in the nineteenth century and has only a few small touch ups here and there.The frame is nineteenth century and was cut to fit the portrait.It is in good condition with minor losses and measures 17.75" x 21.75".Shipping will be 25.00 in the US and 75.00 international.
