is a unique item that I believe dates to the early 1900s. It is a metal collapsible drinking cup that is 2" in diameter and stands 3" tall when fully extended. It is contained in a very well made circular box that is covered in black, grained leather. The cup has an attached mechanism on the upper section that allows two metal loops to swing out to form the cup handle. The mount on this mechanism is marked with the trademark "R" enclosed in a stylized rectangle. I do not know the maker, but perhaps this trademark will help to authenticate the age. I do not know what metal was used in making this cup. It is silver colored and highly polished with a gold wash on the inside. It is not magnetic. I have poured water in this cup and it holds with no leaking what so ever. The case shows normal wear for its age. An unusual item that was perhaps used by someone who traveled often, such as a doctor or military officer. Thanks for looking!
