This is what I believe to be an early 1900s Victorian Santa Claus with composition / clay head, hands and feet that stands right about 11" tall. I am not sure what the body is made of but it's hollow as I hear things rattling around inside. His face is painted red and he has painted eyes. His beard appears to be angel hair or something similar. His coat is felt and has the remnants of something shiny like glitter to appear as snow. Portions of the felt were coated with something to make it stiff (probably the adhesion for the "snow"). In his right hand he holds a Christmas Tree. His boots are composition / clay and were painted black. Some of the black as shown in the photos has chipped away. His face has also been painted with expression lines. The tip of his nose has a layer off as shown in the photo. He is hunched over and not standing straight (hard work being Santa and trudging thru the snow to get that tree you know). His pants are a textile and are dull green. Santa's hands are also composition / clay and painted red. He does stand on his own. This is guaranteed authentic old. It was in a collection of Santas that belonged to an 84 year old man who collected them for years. Winner pays shipping; insurance and payment due within 7 days of auction end. Thanks for looking! I have other antique / vintage Santas that I'll be read more
