T his is a WONDERFUL old quilt, dating back to the early 1900's, or even the late 1800's. It is a very thin quilt (thin batting) and meticulously hand made and hand quilted in a cross-hatch pattern every 1/2 INCH with tiny 8-10 quilting stitches per inch, and a vine border quilted in the edge sashings.L ooking closely, the edges of some of the red fabric are machine stitched, but not all of them! There are NO holes, which is amazing, but the edges of the binding DO show wear, and have split mostly all the way around.T here is one faded spot (see photo) and also a fade line on the back. (See photos).T his has been one of my FAVORITE QUILTS to hang, as it is so striking. I have owned it for many years, but never 'used' it, only for decoration.
