This auction is for a fantastic Pennsylvania hand made folk art bird whimsey which has been in my collection for quite awhile now. I bought him on a trip back to the east coast several years ago in Lancaster Co., PA, and I would think that is w he was made, possibly by the Amish, although I don't know for sure. This great bird whimsey is made of old teal colored wool, probably from a coat, and the underside is definitely a 19th century print, in drab green, with yellow and white flowers, and black outlined leaves. The piece is most likely stuffed with rags. The wings are applied with off-white yarn and also have green and red yarn stitching. The underside has also been attached with off-white yarn. The eyes are tiny round red buttons sewn on and surrounded by green yarn. The piece measures about 9" long. This cute and funky old bird is in very nice antique condition, with no holes, rips, or stains at all. It would be a great addition to any collection.
