Well Done Early 1900's, Circa 1910's, Sioux Indian Fully Beaded Baby Moccasins beaded on Indian Tanned/finished Hide, sinew sewn, lazy stitched beadwork. "Bootie" style, Fully Beaded with nice Geometric Patterns. A very nice and outstanding pair of authentic Sioux Baby Moccs, they don't get any better than this! The moccs have full provenance and is from the Blackpipe (Hodson) Collection that was held in South Dakota at the Blackpipe State Bank for many years, Orvill " Hod" Hodson- Owner. Hodson started the bank in 1909. A provenance Sheet on the Blackpipe Collection will be sent with this item. This nice artifact is from the well-know HODSON family Collection of Plains Indian Beadwork that was housed in the BLACKPIPE STATE BANK AND MUSEUM in Martin, South Dakota. The collection was originally started by Orville Hodson, founder of the Blackpipe State Bank in the early 1900's, and began with the purchase of a small collection of 19th century SIOUX BEADED ITEMS. Orville continued to collect Plains Indian material for many years in the heart of Sioux Country. After Orville's death the family continued to collect until the Bank Closed in 1996. This collection was on display for many years in Martin, South Dakota. We were able to acquire a number of the items from the famous collection and will be offering the items for sale over the next few years. The items are all in VERY GOOD CONDITION as they have been in cases all of these years. So when viewing the photos they may look newer than they actually are as all have provenance as to dates. Nice Bead colors of:Clear, Red, White, Dark Blue and Baby-Powder Blue-see all photos. Some very nice beadwork, very well done, typical Sioux beadwork, and designs. The Moccs are very old, and do show normal age of hide, etc. T is no major damage or bead loss. But again, artifacts like these are very, very old, and have had some use a long time ago, so they show normal/typical wear on the soles and edges, but over-all condition is outstanding for the age! Please see all photos for exact detail and condition. The measurements are as follows: 4" long sole, 2" wide, and Back ankle area is 2" tall.
