A superb quality porcelain soup bowl typically hand decoratedwith a vibrant floral spray to the centre…the border has a rich stylized gilded scroll pattern with further gilding to the fluted rim. The bowl would have been manufactured c.1840 most probably in Staffordshire and is marked to the base with a neat hand painted No 8069 in red which could relate to the Ridgway factory although Minton also used this number at this time…the decoration seems to be more in the style of the Ridgway wares although there is a possibility of course that it came from another manufacturer altogether and any observations on this would be happily received. The overall condition is very good without chips, cracks or restoration…the glaze is in good order with a few minor age and use related blemishes only seen on close inspection when held into the light so not obvious or unsightly…the gilding has remained bright and almost intact. Just over 10¼ ins across and 1½ ins deep. An outstanding and beautiful highly decorative antique bowl and a fine example of the wonderful early Victorian table wares… FOR YOUR INFORMATION: We are retired professional antiques dealers and we have a large quantity of items personally collected over many years which we will be listing over the next few months at realistic ‘to sell’ prices so please check back from time
