A FINE EARLY 19th CENTURY MAHOGANY WRITING SLOPE WITH UNUSUAL OPENING You are viewing a very nice and fine quality solid mahogan y (not e not ven eered) early Victorian writing slope, with an unusual hinged opening out front . Externally the box has a lovely flame effect grain to the external with a nice patina ; having four brass corner bands to each corner and flush hinged carrying handles, a oval shaped ebony escutcheon . Internal ly there are various compartments, a r emovable dip pen tray, a hinged writing slope and two little mahogany drawers. Please see all the photographs provided to gain an appreciation of this fine writing slope. I believe this writing slope to be all original including (apart from the green baize lining to the slope) the lock in working order with key provided. The condition of this writing slope is qui te exceptional considering it's age , with no damage, splits of cracks , just a few little nicks due to age/use; the external brasswork is dirty and needs cleaning which when done the box would look stunning. The g reen baize to the internal slopes has faded and would ben efit the box if this was replaced with leather skiver , which I could obtain if request ed at cost price. Please take time to study the photo graphs for overall condition. The slope measures 41 0mm long x 2 50 mm wide x 1 45 mm high. read more
