Thanks for visiting my listings. This auction is for a wonderful antique 19th century Russian Icon of The Savior. This piece is one of several ORIGINAL "unrestored" Russian icons I acquired last summer. These items were brought from Russia by the family's ancestors and had been passed down from Generation to generation until finally I assume either no one was left living to accept them or they just weren't wanted I'm not sure which. But these are some BEAUTIFUL icons in various sizes and subjects.I would like to say however that I am in NO WAY an authority on Icons!!! I am an antique dealer and have had these looked at and were told they are original as well as I know the sale they came from and t were other period pieces and heirlooms from Russia. I have sold several on ebay over the last year and sold several offline, all my customers have been very pleased .Now for the listing..This large piece as I mentioned before is of The Savior and It is painted with Egg Tempura and Gesso on a wood panel. It measures 14.1/8" tall and 12" wide. The thick wood panel is 1" thick.T is some slight damage as seen in the photos. Some paint and Gesso chipped and missing along bottom. It also has some small thin lines in it w it looks like the paint has seperated a little and allowed the gesso to show thru.T is a small spot on the bottom right side in between the 2 chips seen that the gesso and paint is loose. It is still intact just cracked and loose. It looks as if it had an Oaklad Kiot over it at some point in its life, from the slight darker markings around the outer edge. The board has back slats on it but it is still slightly bowed and I have tried to show that in the photos.I have tried to get as clear pics as possible in natural light. If you would like more please e-mail me.Other than the mentioned,it is in beautiful condition for it's age.Like I said NONE of these have been restored at all.( I do tend to make items sound worse than they actually are,But want NO surprises when it arrives.)I will be more than happy to send additional photos upon requests and answer any questions to the best of my ability.Take a look at my feedback and bid with confidence! Shipping will be 12.00 to lower 48 states,Ins. will be required....I will send a corrected invoice at the end of the sale to reflect the final shipping and ins. charges,as I have no way of knowing what ins. will be until the auction ends. All others please e-mail for shipping as it could be higher. Please note....I do ship Internationally but t is a $5.00 Handling charge for ALL International Shipped items. This covers the extra material it costs to make sure your package ships safely overseas.....BUYER is also responsible for all Customs Charges or fees.I have NO way of knowing what these are and if they will even be charged. I only ship international orders via Air Mail. Thanks for looking and be sure to check out our other items for more wonderful treasures.WE DO COMBINE Shipping to save you !!!Happy Ebaying!
