EARLY 19th CENTURY 19.75" SWISS SCENERY STAFFORDSHIRE PLATTER produced by any one of five 19 th Century makers uncommon for size, color, pattern and condition, a wonderful, very old Staffordshire platter in blue and white Swiss Scenery pattern 19.75" long x 16" wide stamped to underneath near rim: SWISS SCENERY maker is unknown to this seller except for the fact that only five 19th century manufacturers registered a design with this name, so it seems not too big of a stretch (especially for this cheeky American) to assume that the platter was made by Evans & Glasson, Joseph Stubbs, James Jamieson & Co, Swift & Elkin or William Davenport (is t a brain surgeon in the house who can tell us which ?) only a 7/8" long chip (mainly to the underside) at approximately 5:00 on your dial keeps the seller from yodeling on top of every Swiss mountain top about the platter's near perfection as is, however, with the faintest of utensil marks and light aging underneath, one must be content with the second best manner of calling attention to this auction and its scarce item, and that be lavender highlights winning bidder pays professional packing (UPS Store $25) plus priority shipping and required insurance sold as is - sales are final authenticity and condition guaranteed (also shown is a 19" Staffordshire platter of another pattern that we're currently listing) thanks for looking please check our other auctions by we -
