You are looking at a great old piece of original art signed H. Lewis. I named it "Cottage on the lake". This oil painting probably dates to the 1st half of the 20th century. My guess is the 1920's. The artist used gorgeous hues of blue azure and emerald green. They are bright, vivid colors! This painting is so peaceful. It makes you feel like you are there. It depicts a little cottage on the foot of a lake, with majestic mountains in the background. In the background are pretty sailboats on the water. It appears to be canvas attached to some kind of board, as far as I can tell. I didn't want to remove the backing which was nailed shut because it appears too delicate. I didn't want to harm the integrity of this lovely piece of art. I have looked all over the internet and this artist could possibly be Harry Emerson Lewis. I could be wrong but I will leave this up to art collectors to decide. I don't know anything about the artist, Perhaps you do? This piece measures 34" x 24" framed. It appears to be oil on canvas board. The gold gilt frame is a beauty and has a label from the Brooklyn House of Art in NY. The condition is very good though there are a couple of small marks on the canvas. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at anytime. More pictures available upon request.
