I'm selling my vintage Gibson J-45 ADJ (adjustable bridge) square shoulder guitar. It is difficult to age this guitar. I had it looked at by an expert, and his guess was that it was probably a 1970. There is a "Made in the USA" stamp on the headstock which makes it '70 or newer, but it also has a six digit serial number that begins with a 9, which from my research suggest 70,71,or 72. In '75 they went to a 8 digit serial number, so its definitely older than that. Another interesting thing about this guitar is that the "Gibson" logo on the headstock is inlayed mother of pearl. The guitar is missing the original tuners as well. They have been replaced with chrome Grover rotomatics. The guitar is in exceptional shape for its age. There are some checks in the lacquer from age, and a few small dings here an there that would be expected for a guitar that is 40 years old. Overall its very nice. There is only minor wear on the frets, mostly in the open position. Action at the 12th fret is 3/32" for the big E string. The guitar sounds great and plays great with room to move on the saddle.
