***Please scroll down to the bottom for extra full sized photos*** Description:This listing is for a William IV Period Inlaid Burl Walnut and Rosewood Games Table Sewing Stand from the second quarter of the 19th century. It features fine straight inlay throughout, framing each corner. A perfect burl walnut veneer bookcases across the top of the stand for a perfect image. The top opens and spins to display a fully inlaid and detailed backgammon board and chess / checkers board. A small drawer opens below the boards, originally for sewing supplies but fitting for game pieces as well. It is divided with three green pin cushion tops. The drawer is carefully hand dovetailed and planed by hand, with original lock and key hardware. The lock does not work. Beneath the small drawer is a well hidden large drawer that pulls out for yarn supplies when it was a sewing stand. It is a beautifully veneered drawer, with a shaped apron; the interior of the drawer is lined with a light green paper. The bottom of the drawer is cracked, though it does not visually or structurally deteriorate from the drawer. The stand is supported on two turned pillars. A wonderful turned stretcher frames the pillars. Both pillars terminate in careful cabriole legs with crisp hand carved knees of floral design with scroll feet capped by small porcelain wheels. This is a fantastic piece and extremely rare in this condition and fine form. It is petite, measuring 21" wide by 16" deep, and sits 28" high. Condition: Refinished with repairs. In fantastic visual and structural condition. Piece leans slightly to the left, with the right hand side sitting approximately 1" higher than the left. It is quite easy to adjust for, by just using furniture foot pads under the wheels to even out the piece. Minor cracking to veneer throughout, as visible in photos. Top is primary area for veneer cracking, but is visually charming and does not detract from it. Left hand front leg appears to be older than the other legs. It could be due to the long inactive worm hole activity that mottles the leg, or it could be that the other three legs were amazing replacements. The "ankle" of the front left leg was repaired. Minor chips, dings, and abrasions throughout. ***Please see photos below for full disclosure of condition report. Shipping: Shipping is $150 anywhere in the Continental US. Hawaii, Alaska and Canada please contact for a quote prior to purchasing.
