Although this early Turkoman Tekke carpet has seen better days, it has one of boldest design I've seen on turkoman rugs. Its bold four gul column pattern is an early feature with Turkoman rugs, and together with the secondary gul the feel is definitely early. Its striking main border lends further appeal to the field composition. Its colors are soft, not much faded, and are full of warmth. T are scattered areas of wear throughout and one more severe split in the main border. The sides have been overcast and both ends have been secured. It measures 8.4 x 6.7 ft. (253 x 200 cm). The rug has no repairs, no holes, no reweaves, no dry rot. It is a genuine early Tekke main carpet dating back to around 1870. If you like the early look and are a connoisseur of these type of rugs you will have found it quite intriguing. The reserve is modest considering the age of this rug.
