BANISTER BACK SIDE CHAIR This chair is very tight and does not "wiggle". I don't know if the paint is original to it's early beginnings or added later in its life. Someone had begun to strip it, none the less this is a very old chair, and possibly 18th century. Bought at an estate sale w I was told it was that old, and brought from out east by his grand-father, had been in the family forever. I have worked in living history museums and it sure has the look and feel of a early chair, but I cannot authenticate this. Turned legs, wore smooth from years of wear, a wonderful piece to add to an Early American or Colonial decor. Could be that one more Banister-Back that you are in need of, these are far and few between. 39 inches tall, seat measures 14 inches across the back of the seat, 13 inches deep, and 19 1/2 inches across the front. Most of these chairs had a rush seat. Wood is possibly maple, butternut or birch, not sure, the head-rest piece is oak. If you have any questions, please email and will try to answer. Shipping cost will be emailed to high bidder at end of auction once I have high bidders address. T will be a nominal charge for some packing material added plus cost of shipping only, no handling fees. Shipping only to the USA. Insurance required. Thanks for looking! I received an email about shipping and seat height, but didn't want to give away anyone's name, but I wanted to add this to the description: The seat is 14 inches from the floor, the front post-leg is 16 inches from the floor. I can't give any idea of shipping cost as I have not wrapped it yet. The chair weighs about 10 pounds.
