Rare Early Black Americana Rag Doll Stitched Face & Hair This is Rndean's picture, most accurate for color of dress wonderful skinny recovered body W do I begin the description of this phenomenal doll. I recently purchased it from Rndean Gerritson but have had an emergency and need to raise some cash so my loss is your gain. I would estimate her to the 1860's, I do believe her clothing is all original. Her body was original walnut brown and her torso and legs have been recovered with stocking material and her arms and head have been recovered with black cotton with a short of sateen finish. Fabulous stitched face and beads for eyes with some of the brown fabric underneath poking through to look like a nose. She is hard rag stuffed, wonderful hourglass figure and hand-stitched wool for hair. Her dress is turkey red wool challis, completely hand-stitched by an expert seamstress. T are a couple of wear holes but overall in excellent condition. I believe the dress originally buttoned in the back and someone turned it around so the buttons are in front. They are very tiny adorable brass buttons. I believe her "apron" was originally her petticoat, but I love her look so I did not put it back under the dress. She is 17 3/4" tall.
