Welcome to My Auctions Page ~ Early Brass Wire Egg Gathering Basket Wireware AAFA ~ This primitive and early egg gathering basket is the first of its kind I've seen constructed entirely of brass, now with a beautifully mellowed patina. Its wireware form is solid, tightly woven and damage free; desirable in size, its fantastic bulbous ribbed body is about half the size you typically see measuring about 5" tall (excluding the handles) by about 6" across the widest part of its belly. It features a scalloped "lid" which folds across its opening and has 2 great highly-arched spiral wrapped handles. This unusual old basket would look egg-ceptional filled and displayed with those wonderful old milk glass eggs that they used to use to trick the chickens into laying!
