Just look at this wonderful old desk from the UK! This is early 20th Century or maybe before. The inside is composed of 2 compartments that you can keep your writing instruments and paper etc. They are covered in an ageing purple velvet. The velvet fabric hinge has given way I have pictured what remains of it on the side. T was an old nib in which you will be getting. The old glass inkwell with zinc? lid has been broken by someone in the past trying to get the top off I guess. But it stays together in T is another small compartment next to the inkwell that has a small knob to lift it up. All of the insides are in great condition and it's easy to see they are unfinished mahogany. I might be wrong but I think the outer part of the box is walnut. The finish looks more like that. This box does show the wear and tear of the years but is a wonderful piece of history before fountain pens and typewriters and such. Solid wood so could be restored to like brand new if you were so inclined with new fabric and some pull tabs on the compartment doors. It also has a key which you will receive! This lil desk measures 10" x 8" x 3 1/2".
