EARLY CAMBRIDGE FOOTED COMPOTE WITH HUGHES CORNFLOWER Early Crystal 8 Inch Footed Compote wheel cut with WJ Hughes Corn Flower design, typical of Hughes' early work and guaranteed to date no later than the1920's. The bowl is exquisitely cut with 6 full flowers, covered with leaves and a beaded edge, the base is cut on the underside with 3 single petal buds. Crystal clear blank is very delicate, excellent example of Elegant glass. This item isn't marked and isn't shown in any of the three reference books on Corn Flower, I have seen similar ones listed as Cambridge so I'm attributing this one on that basis only. CONDITION - Mint, no damage, no chips or scratches, no sign of use. Lot 312.
