Early Charles and Ray Eames Sofa Compact, by Herman Miller, Circa 1960s. The Compact sofa was originally designed in 1954, and evolved from a built-in sofa that Charles and Ray Eames had designed for the living room of their Pacific Palisades home in California. This vintage Sofa retains the original mexicotton upholstery designed by Alexander Girard. This fabric pattern appears similar to "Jacob's Coat" and Millerstripe, however I have not seen these exact colors stripes, which possibly could mean it was a custom order piece for a particular interior project. SIZE: 72" L x 30" D x 35" High. The frame consists of solid black-enameled steel with solid chrome plated legs, and original coiled steel spring slats under seat. The frame also folds down for convenient storage and transport. CONDITION: Very good condition for age and use. The chrome legs have very minimal wear and show quite nice. The black enameled steel is also very nice showing just a few rub marks and t The Fabric shows quite nice from the front and is in very good condition, and underlying foam is also very good. The sofa back has only misc. small thread snags, However no tears. SHIPPING: Buyer responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements. I would recommend using a "Blanket Wrap" delivery service. Within California I can recommend Justo Delivery
