Early Childs Transferware Saucer BROWN WILLOW CHINOISERIE Sunderland or Staffordshire Englandc. 1850 This fantastic miniature child size saucer is a stunning and scarce transferware toy, circa 1850. Originally part of a complete miniature children's tea set, the saucer measures 4 inches across the top rim with a deep flat center well and a turned base. Transfer printed in an earthy sepia brown. It is decorated in a variation of the Willow pattern, a classic interpretation of the original blue willow wares, much less commonly found in brown. The plate shows a man on a bridge, with a boat a willow tree a Chinese teahouse and flowering trees. A very fine example of a fine pattern. Finding the Willow pattern in brown is far less common than in blue, and the pattern translates beautifully in this earthy color. The saucer is unsigned, and the maker is unknown. Stilt marks and minor typical firing imperfections consistent with age. This fine saucer
