Description
This attractive Chinese export porcelain plate is decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze red and traces of gold, the typical Imari style. This plate dates from the reign of the Chinese emperor Kangxi and represents one of the earliest examples of Chinese porcelain decorated in the Imari style. Depicted is a central flower medallion, which is surrounded by four large flowering plants. The rim is decorated with four similar flower groups. The reverse is decorated with two simple branches and is marked with two concentric circles. Diameter 8.5 inches (22 cm).
Age
Kangxi, circa 1720. Guaranteed over 250 years old.
Condition
Excellent, with a 0.2-inch flake chip to the reverse rim as well as some wear to the enameled highlights.
