Offered for auction is an early coin silver Birdback teaspoon marked "PW" in a serrated rectangle. The mark is somewhat of a mystery. Winterthur has several examples of an identical mark on file, and associates the mark with the Southeast Pennsylvania and Delaware areas (West Chester specifically). The Weaver and Woodcock families operated in this area, and at the appropriate time. It is possible that the mark belongs to an as yet unidentified member of one of those families. Overall length of the spoon is a little over 5 and 1/4 inches. The spoon is monogrammed with an intertwined monogram that looks to be "MB". The spoon has a downturned handle and a bottom side midrib. The mark is very clear. The bird condition is better than average (although birdbacks are a challenge to photograph well, for which I apologize). The overall condition is good. No splits, tears, folds, breaks, etc... A few minor bowl dings, and that's about it.The spoon is offered for the ridiculous starting price of 99 cents, and without a reserve.Good luck, and thanks for looking.
