¡Exquisito! … Evocative of works by Isidro Garcia Pina { Maricela } and Valentin Vidaurreta, this elegant pin is a striking example of mid-20th-Century Taxco silver design and workmanship. Composed of sterling silver, the meticulously cut piece depicts a graceful foliate motif. The body of the leaf is defined with deep incising and oxidizing. Its surmounted center vein, comprised of heavy-gauge silver wire, flourishes a sublime, spiraling tendril. And the slightly convex shape of the piece imbues it with a splendid dimensional quality. This is a refined and gracious work of wearable art that also makes for a beautiful display piece in any vintage Mexican silver collection. Hallmarks: V.A .; TAXCO ; STERLING ; 925 ; Eagle assay stamp #3 {delineated}. The older Eagle indicates that the pin dates to the late 1940’s to early ’50s. This hallmark is cited in Bille Hougart’s The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks . Dimensions: 2-1/2” x 1-1/8”. WEIGHT: 9.5 grams. Condition: Excellent vintage condition, definitely collector quality, including a secure, rollover-locking clasp. ~ SUGGESTED READING BEFORE BID!
