EARLY EDITION ANTIQUARIAN ILLUSTRATED BOOK WALTER SCOTT'S ROB ROY PUBLISHED 1885 You are bidding for an early illustrated edition of Sir Walter Scott's much loved historic novel Rob Roy published by Adam & Charles Black in Edinburgh in 1885 in the Waverley Novels series. This hardback is in very good condition with no loose, missing, torn or folded pages. It has several black and white engravings protected with tissue covers.More than 475 tightly bound pages, gilt edged all round, good hard cover boards in brown with black and gilded text and pattern, good spine, size 19x13.5x3.25cm. Pages in good clean untorn unfolded unmarked condition, some minimal foxing on first and last few pages. No handwriting or scribble.Of interest to collectors of antiquarian books and students of Sir Walter Scott, this book has an introduction to Rob Roy extending to nearly 50 pages with a further 9 page appendix to the introduction at the back. Also at the back are a "Notes To Rob Roy" section and a fascinating glossary of "Certain Scotch Words And Phrases As Applied In Rob Roy", as well as an index to the novel.A sticker inside the front cover records that this book was awarded to student Alfred Keys on 31 October 1895 for good school attendance in London.Rob Roy, first published in 1817, is an historical novel by Walter Scott.
