This is a lovely very early transferware platter in the most beautiful shade of chocolate brown. It measures 12 5/8 inches long and 10 1/4 inches wide. Made by the Staffordshire potter Ridgeway, this is an early one and dates to 1830-1840. Glossy glaze with no chips, cracks or repairs. It has a small area of light discoloration on the back only; the front is in wonderful condition with a few light utensil marks that can be seen when held up to the light, and mentioned for accuracy. It has a beautiful scalloped floral border and a romantic central scene. Offered with no reserve.
