Hello and welcome to my auction! I am pleased to offer you this week this Antique, Very Regal-Looking c. 1860's China Head (German) Flat Top and High Brow Doll ! She is 2 feet, or 24" tall (as seen on page 124 of the 12th Dolls & Values Blue Book by Jan Foulke ), from the bottom of her cloth body to the top of her black curls. Her head circumference is about 11", and the distance from the bottom of the shoulderplate to the top of her head is approximately 6". She is wearing an antique white gown with 2 under garnments and long leggings or socks made from old cotton fabric. The bodice, socks & clothing have wear & stains as shown, from being on the doll for so many years, to be expected, but the head, which is the most valuable part of this doll, appears to be excellent condition for its age. Stuffed with sawdust, I believe her muslin body to be original with maybe some repairs, and as visible in photos, the hands and boots are not with this Beautiful doll. As far as her head and shoulderplate, I see no noticeable damage, only slight rubbing of the black on the back of her head in 4 small places depicted and minor, to this very old and desirable doll.
