A WONDERFUL FRAMED PRINT OF THE FOUNDER OF THE SCOUT MOVEMENT,ROBERT BADEN-POWELL.

THIS IS A FAIRLY OLD PHOTOGRAPH JUDGING FROM THE REVERSE, PROBABLY DATING TO THE FIRST HALF OF THE 20th CENTURY. IT FEATURES A SEPIA IMAGE OF BADEN-POWELL IN HIS BRITISH ARMY UNIFORM IN HIS ROLE AS DEFENDER OF MAFEKING DURING THE SECOND BOER WAR IN 1899.

THE FRAME HAS A GILT MOUNT AND SURROUND IN A DARK, POLISHED GRAINY WOOD, MEASURING 18.5 cm x 21cm. THE REVERSE OF THE FRAME IS COVERED IN VERY OLD, TORN, CONTEMPORARY-LOOKING PAPER AND HAS OLD HOOKS WITH EQUALLY OLD STRING ATTACHED FOR HANGING. JUST VISIBLE BENEATH IS A PIECE OF BOARD FIXING THE IMAGE IN PLACE .

THE FRAME IS IN NICE CONDITION CONSIDERING ITS AGE. I HAVE NOT HAD THIS PICTURE OUT OF THE FRAME SO IT IS HARD TO JUDGE WHETHER OR NOT THIS IS AN ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH OR A CONTEMPORARY 1900 PRINT – MOST LIKELY THE LATTER.
