This is a fine example of the early southern pottery produced in Georgia during the early 30's era. This beautiful pot was made by J. A. Bishop in Delray, Georgia. Mr Bishop, who I am told was named James. He worked with Gordy, the most famous of the Georgia potters, in his pottery group. It measures about 10" tall, 6" diameter at the base, and 4-1/4" at the top diameter. The beautiful brown glaze is applied inside and out and this piece is in near perfect condition. The only defect is a tiny chip on the lip on the backside of the jug as pictured. It is clearly stamped with the JA BISHOP and DELRAY GA on the shoulder of it. Shipping will be $10 in the USA, other areas to be quoted. I'll start it low and hope you appreciate this fine piece of pottery.
