This rare hearth and cooking tool was a hanging warming shelf. The two "prongs" that project would hold the shelf away from the hearth wall, and the whole devive would hang on a hook or trammel from the hearth crane. It is entirely hand wrought, and measures 14" wide x about 9" high x about 9" deep.
