for your consideration is the early and rare McCoy Doe and Fawn pitcher. The pitcher is shown in the catalog pages of the 1925 American Clay Products (McCoy was a member of this association) and also in the Big Red Sanford Guide to McCoy Pottery. The pitcher is nearly 8 1/2" tall and shows the doe and fawn on both sides. Very nice mold which also shows nicely the tree and leaves / fruit next to the deer. A couple of manufacturing flaws can be found on the pitcher - one is on the base w a small "chip" of clay can be seen to be missing. I have looked at this very closely (magnifying glass) and t is no glaze that is missing from above the chip - in fact, the glaze drips down towards the chip - so I do believe this is a manufacturing defect. On the rim (see listing photo) you will find a couple of firing cracks into which you can see the glaze flowing. The only after-manufacturing flaws I see are the two very tiny flakes of glaze off the rim seen just below the spout and the two firing cracks. The rest of the pitcher is just dandy. Very nice crisp mold and super clean. This is quite a rare piece of early McCoy stoneware which has survived extremely well for the past 85 or so years. This has been on display along with the Dutch Windmill Bristol glazed pitcher also listed this week in my home for quite some time. I am listing some very rare and exceptional McCoy and Brush McCoy items this week so please see my other auctions for these listings. Please e-mail me with any questions or requests prior to bidding and I will return your mail ASAP. High bidder to pay actual shipping cost only via USPS Priority mail + insurance if desired. Payment is requested within 10 days and personal checks must clear prior to shipping. Thanks for stopping by to look, good luck and happy hunting.
