Early McCoy Vase Urn Matte Glaze Tri-Color Unmarked

I included several pictures of this vase because I think that it is just gorgeous and also because I don't know that much about it. My knowledge of pottery is based on searching eBay to gather a little knowledge about what I'm listing from my aunt's estate. While researching McCoy I found some earlier pieces that were unmarked and were made with a matte glaze. This piece looked like it could be one of those or it could be comparable to one of those, hence the title. I can not say for sure that it is a McCoy. If a fellow eBayer can let me know something about this vase, I sure would appreciate it. I have included a picture of the markings on the bottom which read "U. S. A. 40 (or 48 ? or 49 ?) 9" ". My measurement of this vase is actually 9 1/2" tall by 6" at the widest point by 5 1/2" at the deepest point. The 2nd picture actually shows the colors more accurately since the colors are deep pastels, muted rose, ivory & baby blue. The details of this piece are stunning in its simplicity. The matte glaze offsets the design perfectly. The color combination blends with almost any decor, as does the design. I would keep this one myself, except that I collect dogs and that doesn't leave room for much of anything else. I have not cleaned this because I did not want to harm the finish of the piece.
