Up for auction is a rare, early sixth plate daguerreotype case made by Meade. It is a leather bound case with two hook clasps. The case is ornately gold stamped with a portrait of Daguerre in an oval cartouche. The legend "As Taken by Meade & Brother Albany NY". The case is in very good original condition with wear appropriate for its age. Slight lifting of leather cover adjacent to one of the hook closures. Spine is original and in very good condition. Interior has a simple embossed floral decoration of the velvet liner. Case measures 3 1/8" by 4 1/8" closed.
