Up for bids is an early , labeled, embossed, tooled lip, medicine bottle with box and instructions. The bottle's label and box both read "Dr. J.E. Hough's / Diarrhoea / Compound / Gives Quick Relief In / Diarrhoea, Cholera, / Cholera Infantum, / Colic, Painful / Menstruation, Etc. / Doses / For adults from 20 to 30 drops / in water, 1 to 4 hours apart. / For children from 4 to 15 drops, / according to age and severity of / case. / Prepared By / J.E. Hough & Sons, / Manchester, Tenn. / Price 25 Cents." The bottle, on the back, is embossed "Diarrhoea / Compound" and "Dr. Hough's" on one side panel and "Manchester, Tenn" on the other. The label has discoloration down the center but is 99.5% complete with only some fraying around the edges. The bottle pristine with nice whittling and stretch marks in the neck. T is some very slight interior residue in the bottom corners. I am certain this would clean up but I have never been willing to attempt it. The box is in rough shape around the lid. The lid is missing and t are some tears, bends and frays. T is some overall soiling and discoloration. T appears to be an instruction booklet in the box. I have never been willing to risk taking it out for closer inspection. In this case, the box and instructions are just an added bonus! You will look far and wide to uncover another of this bottle! read more
