is a very old tin canteen, found in a large lot of tin items at auction. One auction attendee thought it might be Civil War, but I can find no mark on it. Diameter is 5 and 5/16", rim is 1 and 3/4." Flat back, convex front. Mouth is not threaded and a cork rattles around inside. I have not tried to get it out. The canteen has three tin loops for a strap. One of these is missing, one is dented in and the third is perfect. The white patch on the back in my photo is the remnants of an old label that I did not remove. Nice old tin piece!
