GUSTAV STICKLEY arm Chair no. 2584 Ladies and Gentlemen:I am proud to offer this incredible GUSTAV STICKLEY arm Chair no. 2584 as shown in the 1902 catalog. This is one of Gustav's earliest chairs and is signed with the red Stickley in a box mark (as shown). This beefy size chair is by far the most comfortable of his early arm-chair designs providing ample cushioning in the seat area and also Gustav's only design with padding for the back. Not only is this a beautiful design but strong and comfortable as well. The design includes wide front and rear stretchers that is similar to Gustav's Thornden chairs. The arms are the big beefy type at 1-inch thick and are pinned at the front post and notched at the rear. A very rare feature of this chair is the grain selection for the corbels. The wood grain on these radiate out from the corner instead of being vertical (see pics). All the upper edges are nice and clean and t are some small nicks on the legs as expected from use. The bottom of the feet are finished with the Original rubber cushioned steel feet. Probably the nicest feature of this beautiful chair is the new over-stuffed leather seat and back. The seat has been completely built from the bottom to top using the finest quality materials. Over 1 yard of soft black executive leather was used to cover the seat and side rails. A 6-inch-thick firm foam is used at the center and is filled with cotton at the edges. This is covered in muslin and supported by heavy duty cross weaved jute. It is a floating design with no hard bottom. The back is finished in a similar manner using 3-inch padding instead. This is finished off with hammered head decorative nails placed in a vertical fashion to provide a lightness to an otherwise 'heavy' design. The lack of horizontal lines along the lower seat rails further reinforce a visual 'floating' seat design. The overall condition of this chair is EXCELLENT. This chair has been reglued and is tight and solid. Other than the previously mentioned small nicks on the legs, t is 1 small nail hole on top of each arm near the thru-tenon. T are no other major issues to mention. This chair has been professionally restored and is ready to go into your home. You will be very proud to show this rare Stickley to your friends and family. The size is 37" tall by 28" wide by 21" deep. The seat area is a comfy 21" wide by 19" deep and is 21" tall. This is one of Gustav Stickley's earliest and most rare designs. Don't miss out on this chance to own a piece of Genuine American Art!
