A WW2 era Type 30 pattern Arisaka bayonet, complete with metal scabbard. Both are in good condition and would I feel enhance any collection that a buyer was looking to add to. I hope the description is adequate, should you require any further information and/or pictures please just let me know. The bayonet measures 20" long, with an fullered blade of 15 1/2". The pommel and crosspiece are both good but showing signs of age with some darkening and loss of the silver/grey finish in places. The push-stud moves easily and retains its spring. The two-piece wooden grips are good, though bear some surface marks/bumps with service use. The grips are secured by screws. A serial number is stamped on the end of the pommel: 98396, preceded by a J in a circle. The blade is in good, clean condition with the ricasso bearing the Tokyo arsenal mark of 4 circles (which appear like an open flower). The reverse is unmarked. The blade retains its bright finish and a fingernail run along it's length reveals no damage to the edge, apart from a slight uneveness towards the point. There is evidence of period sharpening, other than the factory finish, notably towards the tip. The steel scabbard is good, with the black painted finish knocked and chipped in places, there is a slight dent half way down one side. Entry and exit to the scabbard is both smooth and secure. A genuine and authentic item which should interest collectors and enthusiasts alike. Any inspection can be arranged and is indeed welcome. Payment by cheque in the UK is preferred. Payment by PayPal will require the use of a 'Signed For' service to comply with PayPal guidelines. Shipping to the United States & Australia will be $35, to Europe $28 .
