Hi & "Thank You" for viewing my listing! :) Up for bidding, I have my most favorite candle box that I've ever owned. It is quite unique in it's making with, what I assume was the original owner's name stenciled on the side. :) It's a wonderful old, early candle box...possibly from the late 19th or early 20th century. As I pay $10 a month for "picture manager" which is supposed to allow you to take 12 pix for each listing...I took them all. - - But when trying to actually upload theml...it wouldn't take them, so I still have 11. The candle box was obviously handmade & measures 13 1/4" by 4" wide, & it stands just a little over 4 1/4" tall. I'm unsure of the type wood, but but in the last picture, it shows the (inside & underneath) side of the sliding lid. - - The box is super...showing a hand stenciled name on both sides, a pretty flower type design stenciling around the edges. - - Even after having this for all these years, ...tonight I actually figured out that maybe it says ? Havelock...is that anyone's last name? - For sure cannot make out the first part! The third picture shows the end, which still is stenciled but very hard to make out what it says. The same stencil is on the other end. The c'box seems to have been made by a wonderful craftsman, as the box itself, looks to have been handcrafted, stained, then stenciled, then shellaced, (which could have been later to secure the steciling, but now, just some remains.) The lid is chamfered & has great old finger knotches to pull. Both ends are open, & the lid slides freely & easily through both ends. I pictured both finger pulls & please notice in that one...that t is a very slight piece of wood missing on the end. It's actually very unnoticeable to most, but I wanted to mention. -You will see in the third picture how well the lid does fit. :) It was constructed of very, very tiny nails, but probably a couple of larger ones were added later. Please notice both close up pictures of the sides...one has kind of a knot & the other a little knick of wood out of it, but it seems that was before it was stained, stenciled, etc. ~ * This is probably one of the "Most Unique" Candle Boxes that you will ever see! I think it's awesome! * ~ Now... is the bad part due to problems with certain people/buyers that seem to keep occuring lately...I'm sorry for ~ALL MY GOOD ONES! :( I was lucky for about four years to not have to do this, but now I do! I DO NOT ship Internationally! Please do not ask, & make me have to say NO! I am not an "Antique Expert" on anything, but I've been buying antiques for about 25 years! I describe my listings the best I can. Everything is sold as is...& as I always take lots of pictures to give the best views with the brightest of light. I also always do my best to state any flaws. If you are unsure...email & ask a question. T are NO RETURNS ! As I always say...Thanks for viewing & email any questions you might have. ...~L~... From the paragraph above, you can see that I'm just about over the Ebay selling experience. Thanks (with fireworks) to my Great / Wonderful Ebay Friends & Repeat Buyers!!!!! :) I truly appreciate you!!!!! :) |
