From the estate of G. Stanley Wilson, noted Riverside, CA builder and architect. Baldwin Locomotive Works December 1907, Philadelphia, U.S.A. Burnham Williams and Co. #32367 original builders plate. In excellent original condition. Plate is solid cast brass, approx. 16 1/2" in diameter and weighs approx. 12 Lbs. Some minor verdigris present but only adds to the original patina. The plate can be shined up, but I will leave that to the buyer's discretion.Born in Bournemouth, England in 1879, G. Stanley Wilson came to Riverside, CA with his family in 1895 at age 16.He began his career as a carpenter in 1901 Riverside. His first major project was Greystones, working for Donald J. McLeod, at 6190 Hawarden Drive. He worked with McLeod on some of Riverside’s finest homes and also began to work on his own, building a number of small houses near Mission Inn Avenue and Park Avenue. Later, he built the Frank Densmore house located at 4567 Mission Inn Avenue.His first important commission was a house for C.O. Evans, in 1908, at 4622 Indian Hill Road. The huge 10-room, two-story house was constructed of redwood, brick, and concrete, with a double-gabled roof and half-timbered walls.
