This early timber frame boring machine is in very good condition. This is the first machine that I have found like this. This tool would automatically retract, and start to raise when a desired depth was met. Most had a ladder gear that had to be put in place to raise. This feature has been worn through the years, and needs restoration,(probly an easy fix.)The rest of the machine is quite good. All the wood is stable,no insect damage. All the drive gears are excellent,(sharp, and at 100%)It has a 2 inch cutting bit, some rust but sharp. It has an adjustable mast for angle boring. The mast is 29 inches high. The bench is 30 inches long, and 8 1/4 inches wide.It has a patent date Jan.2 1872,No makers name. This tool is well worth the restoration. You may never find another one.It is a nice clean tool, and would display great.(shp.wgt.38 lbs )
